Places to Eat
Jen recommends Buccaneer Cafe for breakfast or lunch. "Get the breakfast taco with smoky pork and you won’t regret it.
Mark thinks the beef breakfast taco is better, and he asks for no egg. “I get it with the fries on the side and their fries are delicious. Açaí bowls are delicious there, too. I love their peanut butter one called the South O Bowl."
In-N-Out
Always good, always crowded.
Local Tap House (LTH)
Good for brunch, lunch, and dinner. LTH has a 4.5 on Yelp and over 2000 reviews, so it's a popular spot and universally liked. Oliver's favorite thing to get is the Dirty Bird. Tyler recommends the Crispy Calamari & Agave Bacon Street Tacos.
Panca Peruvian Rotisserie
Mark likes the Aji de Galina. Jen seconds that, and also recommends Lomo Saltado when you substitute sweet potato fries for the regular ones. For dessert, she likes to go with Dulce de Leche Creme Brulee or the Alfajores.
Petite Madeline
The bakery is very good. Great option for breakfast, too.
Pure Burger
Good burgers, fries, and shakes.
BKK Thai Kitchen
Mark and Jen recommend the following:
Pad Se Ew
Summer Roll
Beef Salad
Tom Kai Gai
Red Curry with Chicken
Kow Soi Noodles
Swami’s Cafe
Ty’s Burger House
Yellow Dehli
Jill
BJ’s across from the outlet mall. A wide variety so everyone is happy. Always end with a pazookie.
Mark and Jen
I changed the info for few of our recommendations (they don’t make the acai bowl I like at buccaneers anymore, and we tightened up our list of favorites from BKK Thai) and we added a restaurant and a gelato place in Carlsbad. I’ll send you the new list.

I get it with the fries on the side and their fries are delicious. There açaí bowls are the best I’ve ever tasted. I get the Cassidy bowl, regular base, add blueberries and a peanut butter drizzle, delish.

One for the Oceanside website. The proprietor is Italian and this is true Italian gelato. Parking can be tough, but the gelato is worth the struggle.

Summer roll

Urban Plates
Quick and delicious with a huge menu. Roasted golden beets were carmelized and so yum. Strangely their brussels sprouts were not great.
Petite Madeline Bakery
Their bakery items are delicious but their breakfast items and items on their specials menu are also tasty.

If you’re in Orange County—
This is a pastry school run by a famous French pastry chef. They sell what they make and everything is so delicious and legit. If I were there for a long time I would look into taking a class or classes. But mostly I just try to eat their food when I’m in the neighborhood.
